The next election should be about renovation for parties on the right

On to the polling. It confirms what we found at the end of January. About half of those who traditionally support the Coalition no longer recognise it as representing them and are now supporting One Nation. Despite this the Labor Party is still favoured to form government both in terms of how respondents are intending to vote and also in terms of who they think deserves to be elected the government.

John Howard was fond of saying that the "voters always get it right". In which case the Coalition and One Nation should stop treating this as an election they can win, but an opportunity to reform their respective parties and hold Labor to account.

It's a subtle mind shift, but one our polling says will bring results.
