It's traditional in Queensland to RSVP later, but...
Dear ,
A fortnight tomorrow we are very fortunate to be able to hear from Dr Benny Peiser, Executive Director and co-founder of the Global Warming Policy Foundation at a lunch at the Brisbane Club.
We've had our usual rush of early responses, and then nothing. This is generally not an issue as about a week out from the function people start responding again.
But this lunch is just two days after Anzac Day, which is only one week after Easter, so we have short week, followed by short week, followed by short week, and the Brisbane Club will need to know numbers by the middle of next week.
What that means is that for the usual rush to occur it has only Wednesday and Thursday of this week and Tuesday of the next week.
And by usual rush - I mean you!!
So please check your diary as soon as you can. You can click on this link to book now.
Of course you may have missed my previous email and be wondering who Dr Peiser is.
The GWPF was co-founded in 2009 by Dr Peiser and Lord Nigel Lawson of Blaby, who was Margaret Thatcher's Chancellor of the Exchequer to provide "a balanced and rational approach to climate change". It has an international reputation and frequently is called to submit to hearings in the British Parliament.
If you're wondering what to expect from Benny, this is a link to an interview he did recently with the Heartland Institute in the USA while was over there.
Like many of the best thinkers on the centre and right of the political spectrum (think of Patrick Moore for example), Benny actually started out on the left in Germany, and was for a time, a member of the Greens. He's a man of many talents, and is able to hold forth on sport in Ancient Greece or near space hazards, as easily as he can on climate.
