Date claimer - Will Shackell, the 17 year-old who schooled 50 year-old Chris Bowen

The younger generation speaks about nuclear

Dear ,

Please put Friday the 13th of October in your diary. That is the day we have arranged for Will Shackel to talk to us about nuclear energy and Australia. The function will be a lunch at the Brisbane Club, but we don't have the booking page up yet.

Who is Will? He's a 17 year old Churchie boy who knows what he is talking about when it comes to nuclear. Monday of this week he demonstrated this when he schooled energy minister Chris Bowen on the issues (to see his impressive performance click here).

He has the standing to be on Q&A because he is mature well-beyond his years. When I met him earlier this week and organised this function I told him he was the thinking person's Greta Thunberg. He doesn't just have Greta's intensity, but unlike Greta he knows what he is talking about, and even better, he is finishing his schooling.

Will set up Nuclear for Australia (please sign his petition) which is a student campaign for nuclear.

I apologise for not having a booking page up yet, but I wanted to let you know about the event so you can put it in your diary. It is just under three weeks away.

The reason for my disorganisation is another Will. My Penny's older child Will Haysom was married to Stephanie Langley yesterday, so you can imagine we've been pretty fully engaged. As I only met Will Shackell on Wednesday and got his agreement to speak on Thursday, I've been in a kind of battle of the Wills to get this email out.

Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday next week I will have the EventBrite site up and running. So you will hear from me again shortly.

Friday the 13th is a portentous day. Bad luck for some, as they say, but also the day before the Voice referendum. This will be a good opportunity to relax and talk about something else. So much of what we argue about is to do with the past - this is to do with the future.

Regards,

GRAHAM YOUNG
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
