Islamism was born in the western academy
Islamism is best understood not as a form of religious extremism, but as an ideology or "political religion". And the quasi-intellectual arguments of groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir were created in Western universities.
These are just two of the insights from David Martin Jones' and MLR Smith's book Sacred Violence: Political Religion in a Secular Age, which will be launched in Brisbane at this function.
To hear Professor Martin Jones expound and explain these ideas, buy the book, and catch-up with your friends and the supporters of the AIP before Christmas note this function down in your diary, and click here to book.
