Tanveer Ahmed's Fragile Nation
Hi ,
This is a reminder of the Brisbane launch of Tanveer Ahmed's Fragile Nation.
I've started reading the book, and this is a great read. He views things like the radicalisation of 2nd and 3rd generation Islamic immigrants through the experience of one of his patients. So he's dealing with difficult practical and ideological issues, but through a very human and accessible framework.
He also has a sense that human nature can, and has, changed, which I find very challenging in so many ways, but if it is true, it must also say something about culture and human nature.
There are so many things to tease out of this book, so please come along.
The launch is on Monday December 5, 6:00pm for 6:30pm at The Alliance Hotel, Boundary Street, Spring Hill. $15 for non-members, and $10 for members (first drink included free). To book click here.
We haven't had a function in a while, and this will be our last of the year, so come along, reconnect with old friends, and have some festive cheer.
The other thing you might find interesting is our most recent research which looks at politics, and also Australian attitudes to unions. It predicted that the ABCC legislation would get up, and we are going to use it to guide some policy research into industrial relations next year.
You can download the research by clicking here.
