Still time to talk to David Flint about improving Australian democracy without changing its head of state
Dear ,
The lunch with Professor David Flint is sold out, but there are still tickets left for dinner at the Jindalee Hotel.
Professor Flint will be launching Give Us Back Our Country, the book he co-authored with Jai Martinkovits, at dinner on this Thursday April 19, 2018.
Cost is $35, and the function starts at 6:30 pm for 7:00 pm at the Jindalee Hotel. To book, click here.
We are holding this launch jointly with the Conservative Coalition for Australia.
Best known as the Convenor and Chairman of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy, David is a deep thinker about national systems of governance, and his concerns range far beyond who should be the symbolic head of state with the ability to exercise reserve powers.
In this book he argues the only solution to a debased democracy is to make the politicians truly accountable – not just every three or four years in blank cheque elections – but on every day, of every month and of every year through the tools of direct democracy.
Instituting citizen initiated referenda is an innovation that the Australian Institute for Progress has supported in its Ten Big Ideas document.
Look forward to seeing you on the 19th.
When: April 19, at 6:30 pm for 7:00 pm. Where: Jindalee Hotel, Sinnamon Road, JINDALEE Q 4074 Cost: $35 (The bar will be open for drinks) To book, click here.
