Zion Lights has 'escaped' from Extinction Rebellion to be an advocate for nuclear
Dear ,
We have been very lucky to jag Zion Lights to address a lunch while she is visiting Australia. You may have heard of her - she is the spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion in the UK who defected to become a pro-nuclear campaigner.
Now you may be thinking, "If she was a member of Extinction Rebellion, she made no sense then, so why should I think she'd be making any more sense now?". That's a very good question, and one I answered for myself by having a one hour Zoom conversation with her.
I can vouch for the fact that not only does Zion make a lot of sense, but she has the ability to reach out to groups that are generally closed shut to the empirical side of the argument. Young, a first generation Brit of Punjabi heritage, a single mum with two kids, and with an armful of tattoos, Zion has street cred.
She will be speaking alongside Professor Stephen Wilson. Stephen is a Brisbane resident who is an expert in energy economics and wrote the paper "What would be required for nuclear power plants to be operating in Australia by the 2030s". I've spent a lot more time talking to Stephen than to Zion, and I'm sure you will be blown away by his in-depth appreciation of the intricacies of energy markets as well as his own energy and sense of humour.
Stephen and Zion will be speaking at lunch on Wednesday October 5 in The Brisbane Club at 12:00 for 12:30. Tickets are $135 for AIP members, which includes a two course lunch and all drinks. Non-members are $165 and students $125. We also have tables of 10 available at the member price.

This is a good opportunity to introduce friends and colleagues to the concepts underlying our power generation system, and also to show them that it is OK to change your mind to being pro-nulear.
Regards,
GRAHAM YOUNG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
