Great Barrington Declaration

An international petition for a rational approach to COVID-19

Dear ,

The Great Barrington Declaration advocates dealing with COVID-19 using "focussed protection", an approach which prescribes allowing those at least risk from COVID-19 maximum freedom, subject to their own commonsense, while protecting those most at risk.

You signed our Open Letter to Australian Heads of Government, which advocated a similar approach, so I thought you might be interested in reading, and signing, the Great Barrington Declaration.

The declaration is available at https://gbdeclaration.org/, and is the work of Sunetra Gupta, from Oxford University, Professor Martin Kulldorf from Harvard University, and Professor Jay Batttacharya from Stanford University.

These are pre-eminent experts in this field, and they all agree that the lockdowns do more harm than good.

It seems they have been joined by the WHO who now says it doesn't recommend lockdowns, except as a temporary measure.

You knew this more than a month ago when you co-signed our open letter to open-up the economy.

If we keep sending messages to our federal and state governments, eventually they will have to pay attention. You should be congratulated for being amongst the first to understand this, and to be brave enough to join a campaign.

Thanks for being part of the campaign for rational public health policy which balances risks and rewards. There is not point saving lives, but destroying livelihoods - you can't have one without the other.

Regards,

Graham Young
Executive Director
