Emancipation Day is this Friday. Book now.
Dear , ChatGPT keeps giving our Emancipation Day guest speaker an AO even though she doesn’t have one. So what is wrong with our honours system? If anyone deserves an AO, it would be Judith Sloan. Judith has had a stellar academic career, but more importantly she is one of the most prominent public intellectuals in Australia. I’ve never formally studied economics, but having read many of Judith’s columns over the years, I don’t need to. I probably don’t need to convince many of you that she is worth hearing, so if you haven’t booked yet, please click here. It is on this Friday, August 1, so not much time left. But if you need more convincing, how is this? Professor Judith Sloan is one of Australia’s most respected economists and public intellectuals. Born in Melbourne on 22 November 1954, she holds degrees in science, arts and economics from the University of Melbourne and the London School of Economics. She has served in senior academic roles - including Professor of Labour Studies and Director of the National Institute of Labour Studies at Flinders University, and Honorary Professorial Fellow at the Melbourne Institute at the University of Melbourne. Her career spans both public and private sectors. Judith has been a commissioner with the Productivity Commission and the Fair Pay Commission and has served as Deputy Chair of the ABC. In the corporate world, she has sat on a number of boards for major companies, including Santos, Mayne Nickless, SGIO Insurance and Westfield. Today she is Contributing Economics Editor with The Australian. What more can I say. Click on this link to book. Kind regards,
GRAHAM YOUNG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
