85 booked, venue can fit 100

The response to Andrew Laming's book launch has been fantastic. As of now we have 85 bookings, which means we can take only 15 more.

I'm sure some will be coming to challenge Dr Laming, but for others it will be an opportunity to understand that despite all the peer group pressure, they weren't alone, and they were right.

I can only guess at the pressure that Andrew must have been under from his colleagues, just for following the data where it led.

But for me that - doing what the facts dictate, not what others order, because that is the right thing to do - is the essence of liberalism, and therefore should be the essence of any party using liberal in its name.

It seems peer group pressure, and fear-marketing, have become the core of modern governance and political debate, so COVID won't be the last test of courage we will face.

And it is easier to be courageous when you know you have friends. This function will be an opportunity to widen your circle of brave acquaintances.
