60 years reshaping the future of energy
Join the Australian Institute for Progress over dinner for the fifth annual Sir Thomas McIlwraith Lecture, with guest speaker Trevor St Baker AO, on Wednesday evening October 2, 2019.
Trevor's business life started as an engineer in the government-controlled electricity sector during the 60s and 70s. In 1980 he went to the private sector forming his own businesses, first consulting on power generation all over the world, and then building and running electricity generators in Australia. Today his empire includes wholesale power generation and retailing here and overseas through ERM Power and Sunset Power International.

Trevor is also a major investor in cleantech companies founded to deelop products including flat printed light, printed solar PV & printed energy storage, cloud-enabled intelligent controllers & powermetric customer access devices, and electric vehicle fast chargers. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 2016 for distinguished service to business and commerce as a leader and executive in the energy sector, and through philanthropic support for a range of health, arts and Indigenous youth programs. AIP’s lecture series celebrates an early premier of Queensland who transformed the state with railways, ports, immigration and industries. Each year, the annual McIlwraith lecture honours someone who is making a practical contribution to Queensland by asking them to share their experiences and philosophy.
Hope to see you there.
