AIP update on Qld state election
Dear ,
We set ourselves a target of making an impact on this state election on the privatisation issue. So far we are succeeding. Our aim isn't to reach the broadest market - you need paid advertising for that - but to make journalists and others in the opinion-making classes think twice before repeating fraudulent claims made by those opposed to privatisation.
Judith Sloan, a member of our professorial advisory board, was interviewed by Steve Austin on the issue, and had an opinion piece in the Courier Mail which we have reproduced on our analysis of the Opposition's fiscal strategy (we will also do an analysis of the Government's).
I've also done media with 612ABC, 2GB, 4MK and RN on the election, particularly our call to Anthony Chisholm to withdraw advertisements falsely claiming that electricity prices sky-rocketed in Victoria after privatisation (they were higher than Queensland's and are now lower).
Our Facebook post on the ads was seen by 26,680 people and had 68 shares.
The high point of this has been a piece by Des Houghton in the Courier on Saturday.
We have more to come this week with an analysis of the ETU claims on privatisation amongst others.
