Peter Jennings has something to say on Iranian terror bombings

War is here, whether we like or not, or whether we recognise it or not

Dear ,

Peter Jennings has another cracker of a column in The Australian, this time on the Iranian antisemitic terror attacks. (If you can’t read it online I’ve attached a copy to this email).

Peter Jennings ties some of the ends of the international coalition against Australia and its allies together in this piece. He could have gone further. (Hopefully he will at our lunch – to book click here).

We know from what has occurred in the UK, USA and Canada that the Chinese and the Russians are undoubtedly involved in the funding of organisations and people dedicated to crippling the resilience of our economy –  declared lobbyists, businesspeople, secret agents and many "environmental" organisations.

China’s opposition to our best security interests is not even very covert as this report in The Australian of China’s editorialising in the China Daily “Beijing’s most authoritative English language masthead” that Australia should say no to Aukus, shows.

Mild I suppose, compared to the “Wolf Warrior” diplomacy (sic) that issued a list of 14 demands - what they called “grievances” - to the Australian government, as well as inflicting trade sanctions on many of our industries.

But part of a series of overt and covert intimidations.

BTW, Peter Jenning's Australian Strategic Policy Institute was one of the grievances.

As Jennings points out China, Russia, Iran and North Korea form a coalition of aggression against democratic interests (what Scott Morrison dubbed an “arc of autocracy”). That arc has many manifestations within our borders. The Iranian bombings are one, but there is no doubt in my mind that the massive anti-Israeli marches we have seen are another, despite what many of the marcher's intentions may be.

These are challenging times, and we need to talk about them. Details of the function are:
