Making a difference this state election

Whats_Up_WIth_Labor

Dear ,

As a member of the AIP I thought you should be amongst the first to see the advertising that we are running in this state election.

The first one is the major one, with a woman in the target demographic asking, “What’s up with Labor?” listing a whole lot of prices that have risen, as well as some non-price statistics like ambulance ramping, and concluding “Time’s Up”.

The second focuses on electricity prices and is a cartoon featuring two electricity sockets. I first had the idea years ago when Labor was clearly using electricity prices as a way of balancing the budget. My line then was that every power outlet had become an outlet of the Office of State Revenue.

Well, the advertising gurus took that insight and turned it into the second series of advertisements. I reckon they’re great.

The main game with advertising is to get your idea into peoples’ minds. I’m currently struggling to think what the campaign slogans are for either side in this election. But I think “What’s up with Labor? Time’s up!” given enough repetition could become a sort of earwig that will race through voters’ minds just as they go to put the pencil on the ballot paper.

Feel free to share these around with your friends, that will help to get the message out. And if it convinces them to donate to run them even more times, that’s even better. Just tell them to email me on graham.young@aip.asn.au, or go to our donation link https://aip.asn.au/donate/.
