Reminder: John Mickel and Graham Young preview Election 2020

COVID-19 makes this election the most significant for decades

Dear ,

The Queensland Election campaign has started. This election is the most crucial for many years because our collision with COVID-19 has created challenges, and opportunities. Which party is best to exploit them? Which will get the chance? Will either even have a majority?

Former Labor Minister and Speaker of the House John Mickel and AIP Executive Director Graham Young will preview the 2020 Qld election. John and Graham come from opposite sides of the political spectrum, but have been friends for a long time, and both understand the mechanics of campaigning, as well as appreciate the need for good government.

This is a Zoom event, tomorrow (Thursday 8 October) at 6:00 pm AEST. To book click here.

This will be a highly practical discussion, which won't lose sight of the purpose of winning elections - progress.

I anticipate there will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation, and know that some of those in the audience will be just as knowledgeable as John and me.

If your state has daylight saving, please note the time is Queensland time. It will be 7:00 pm to start in NSW and Victoria, and so on.

Share this event on Facebook and Twitter. To book click here.

And if you live in Brisbane, you might like to listen to local ABC Radio with Steve Austin just after 5:30 pm tonight, when I will be discussing current events on the campaign trail with Rachel Nolan, former Bligh government minister, and currently Queensland Executive Director of the centre-left think tank the McKell Institute. This is a regular gig up until the election itself.

It's 612 on the AM dial, or you can listen online at https://www.abc.net.au/radio/brisbane/live/.

Regards,

GRAHAM YOUNG
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
