A gift that keeps on giving
Dear ,
It’s close to Christmas, which means you’ll be knee-deep buying presents for other people, so why not buy one for yourself? Your membership of the AIP is due for renewal, and we’d love to see you back as a member before New Year. I sent you a notice a month ago, but I can understand how busy things are this time of the year – you're not the only one who forgot to renew, although many didn't. You can renew easily by clicking on this link. Membership of the AIP gives you a stake in the fight for true progress based on: - Individual rights
- Individual responsibility
- Empirical truth
- Civil society
- Material and social progress
- Effective government
These things are too important just to leave to politicians and political parties. And we need more voices on the side of the “quiet people” to counterbalance third parties like the CFMEU, environmental NGOs, and various academic guns for hire. That’s why our institute exists. We can say and do things that political parties can’t, and often we can have more impact.
For example, in the last federal election we ran a series of “Fact Bites” that exposed policy weakness in the opposition and the government. In particular we targeted tax issues, including capital gains tax, negative gearing and franking credits, as well as power generation issues like Labor’s unrealistic push for 50% new electric cars by 2030.
With state and local government elections in 2020 it is important that we are on-deck again. Queensland is being mismanaged as debt creeps inexorably towards $100 billion, but if no one talks about it, it won’t matter to electors. You can help us to provide a strong voice by renewing your membership. Don’t forget that as well as supporting our side in the fight against the regressive left, membership also comes with financial benefits. Each year we run a series of events from our signature McIlwraith Lecture to our regular Fridays on Logan Road. As a member you receive a special rate to all of these functions, as well as being on the inside to know what is happening in the first place. If you want to discuss anything with me at any time, as a member you can just pick up the phone, and know I will answer as soon as I can. You can also get exclusive access to in-depth analysis based on our polling, rather than just the headline material we put out to the public.
I’ll be taking a break from the office from Friday this week, but I’ll be back on deck just after New Year.
Have a happy Christmas and a merry New Year, and I look forward to seeing you in 2020.
Regards, Graham Young Executive Director
