3/4 of Greens MHRs are in Brisbane - we need to do something about that!
Dear ,
A targeted investment in campaigning could make a huge difference to Australia. Out of the 4 Greens with lower house seats, 3 of them aren't just from Queensland but hold seats in Brisbane. We believe that with a properly-funded and targeted campaign we can reduce their total numbers by 50%.
In the last state election we raised $125,000 from members and supporters which helped us to put last minute online advertising into seats like Capalaba and Redlands which made a difference.
If we can raise that much and spend it again, this time in Ryan and Brisbane, we have a good chance of helping to return those seats to the LNP. Thanks to some of you, we have already raised $22,000, so we are off to a good start.
The three tiles above are just the first instalment in a campaign aimed at renters with the call to action "Can you afford the Greens?". Our commissioned research, undertaken by Adept Economics, predicts rent rises of $83 a week, over and above rent rises already in the system, because of the Greens promise to abolish negative gearing, double capital gains tax and cap rent increases to 2% per annum.
While other campaigns we have heard of are targeting older Greens voters - "The Greens aren't what they used to be" - our campaign bores in on financial self-interest - one of the strongest drivers of behaviour - and younger, even first-time, Greens voters.
We need your help, so please click here to donate.
Just $6,415.50 could put one of these ads in front of every person in Ryan between the ages of 18-45, an age group where most of the renters are concentrated. In Brisbane, the same sum of money could get to most people 18-35.
If we can repeat that every day, then by May 3 our target voters will have seen our messages 10 times. That's enough to have a major impact.
The rules that applied to the last State election do not apply to this Commonwealth election. It is only until you have donated $16,900 in total that you need to disclose your donation and there are no prohibited donors.
I hope you can help. And if you want to talk to me about any part of the campaign please call me on 0411 104 801, or email me graham.young@aip.asn.au.
Regards,
GRAHAM YOUNG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
