Frank Brennan, Tony Abbott and Aseem Maholtra, but not altogether
Dear , I wanted to remind you of our next function, and let you know about another two that you could be interested in. Fr Frank Brennan: Observations on the Pell Trial Breaking news: James Power will introduce Fr Brennan A double treat. James is the proprietor of Brisbane’s "worst vegetarian restaurant", the Norman Hotel, and one of the scions of Brisbane’s publican Power family. More than that he is one of Brisbane’s less well-known, but strongest, supporters of free speech and individualism, coming from a Roman Catholic perspective. He is a strong supporter of Campion College in Sydney, Australia’s first liberal arts tertiary college, and is currently planning a classical education high school for Brisbane. These are much-needed developments. Increasingly state, and religious, schools are being colonised by propaganda, rather than being places where students can learn to appreciate and pursue the true, the beautiful and the good. James has keenly followed the Pell trial and will bring a unique perspective to this book launch. The function is in our offices at 6:00 for 6:30 on May 19, with tickets at $25 with discounts for members. To book, click here. To order a copy of the book click here. (If you are going to pick-it up at the function just select “pick up” instead of “ship” for the delivery option). Samuel Griffith Society Symposium on The Voice This will be held in our offices on May 17. Speakers include Hon Tony Abbott AC, Hon Ian Callinan KC, Amanda Stoker, Gary Johns and Peter Gibbs. It starts at 9:00 am and numbers are limited. There is no charge, but please RSVP to contact@samuelgriffith.org.au as space is limited to 70. I’ve attached a flyer to this email.
The Samuel Griffith Society is named in honour of famous Queensland jurist and premier who was one of the key authors of the Australian Constitution, and formed in 1992. It is an honour to be hosting this event in our offices.
Dr Aseem Malhotra speaking tour Dr Malhotra is a British cardiologist who accepted the state version of COVID-19 and its treatments until his father, a very prominent cardiologist, died from vaccine effects. As a result he looked more closely at the data and is now an advocate for an evidence-based approach to the disease. He “came out” in a peer-reviewed article in June last year. It is well-worth reading. Our friends at the Red Union are bringing him out to do a lecture tour of Australia. The dates for Brisbane are June 5th and 7th. To see the full schedule and to book, please go to https://amps.redunion.com.au/malhotra_tour2023. Dr Malhotra is an example for all of us. He was prepared to let the facts change his mind. It’s OK to make a mistake, but not OK to repeat it when you know it is a mistake. Regards, GRAHAM YOUNG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
