Launch of the Impatient Libertarian
Dear ,
It seems the world is spiralling out of control. Yesterday morning I was called by a UQ professor to tell me that at last the university has a Free Palestine tent settlement. He thought I would be appalled, and I was.
At the same time Anthony Albanese is building a protectionist mot and bailey around Australia, on the excuse that the Yanks are doing the same thing. Yet he still wants to do business with China, at the same time as our intelligence networks tell us the CCP probably has malware embedded in the software that runs our infrastructure.
Sally McManus isn't as high profile as she used to be, but then why should she be? She's achieved her class warfare objectives. We've taken our industrial relations system back to the 50s, with the legislative framework in place for unions to intrude even into micro family businesses.
Then there is Chris Bowen and the "energy transition" to produce electricity that is only affordable (not cheap) because its fuel mix involves billions of taxpayer subsidies..
There will be a way out of this mess, but winning elections isn't enough if all you do is accept the framework that has already been adopted, but essentially stay the course. Change requires a new framework, and a plan to put that in place.
Ron Manners' new book The Impatient Libertarian: Which Road Ahead asks where we go from here, and draws lessons from five famous thinkers from the past: Leonard E Read, John Hospers, FA Hayek, Prince Philip, and Sir Antony Fisher on how you can do that.
We will be launching this book on Wednesday May 22 in the hall at Holy Trinity Church Fortitude Valley at 6:00 for 6:30. To book click here.
Ron Manners is a mining legend, and a man who has spent millions of his own money on over 2,500 Mannkal Scholars who have gone through his Mannkal Economic Education Foundation programs to give them a grounding in free-enterprise economics.
This will be an inspiring and challenging evening. Our value system is definitely on the defensive, but it didn't start off as the majority position, it had to fight to get there. We need to learn how to play offense again.
