Breakfast recording and advance notice

The emancipation by the British of all slaves in the British Empire was the moment in history when the equal dignity of all human beings was first recognised. It's something we will celebrate every year.

We recorded Professor Biggar's address on Zoom which will be up in due course, but you can watch an interview with him by Damian Coory on ADH TV by clicking here.

Next year I hope to convince some other organisations to stage celebrations as well. If you have any influence with any groups who should see the logic of this, please let me know, and also suggest it to them.

It should include community groups like RSLs that represent people who put their lives on the line to defend the values this day represents. Or church groups who are descended from those religious who drove the original campaigns. Maybe human rights groups who campaign to extend rights to those lacking them even today.
