Following-up and the future

Emancipation_Day

Dear ,

Thanks for supporting our inaugural Emancipation Day breakfast. This will be an annual event because this is something that all of us who have benefited from the British influence can rightly point to as an impressive achievement.

Next year I hope to convince some other organisations to organise celebrations Next year I hope to convince some other organisations to organise celebrations as well. If you have any influence with any groups who should see the logic of this, please let me know, and also suggest it to them.

It should include community groups like RSLs that represent people who put their lives on the line to defend the values this day represents. Or church groups who are descended from those religious who drove the original campaigns. Maybe human rights groups who campaign to extend rights to those lacking them even today.

We sold out of copies of Nigel Biggar's book, so we are going to get more copies in. I already have a couple of orders. If you are interested, please click here. I'm happy to arrange a pickup from the office in the Gabba, or my home at Clayfield, so you don't have to pay the postage. Alternatively if you spend $100 in our online store postage is free, as long as you use the code "ED".

If you liked this morning you will definitely be interested in our McIlwraith Lecture, to be delivered by Robert Gottliebsen on behalf of the Australians who made Mt Isa over the last 100 years. This is on September 13 at 7:00 pm for 7:30 pm at the Victoria Park Golf Course. To book click here.

And finally, I've posted my article on slavery on our website. If you missed it in the Australian, or don't have an online subscription, this is an ungated copy. To read it click here. (And if you're not already a member, click on the join button at the top of the page).

Look forward to seeing you at future functions.

Regards,

GRAHAM YOUNG
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
