Australia’s security outlook and what to do about it

The strong do as they will, and the weak do as they must, according to Thucydides in his History of the Peloponnesian War. So where is Australia on this spectrum – how strong, and how weak? What are our options? What can we do? What should we do?

Peter Jennings AO PSM has had a long and distinguished career as a defence analyst and he will answer these questions and more. They are important questions to answer in a world where major countries once again feel they can lay claim to territory owned by others.

Peter was director of the Australian Statregic Policy Institute for 10 years, from 2012-2022. Before that he worked in senior roles in the public service including being Deputy Secretary for Strategy in the Defence Department, Chief of Staff to the Minister for Defence and Senior Advisor for Strategic Policy to the Prime Minister.

He is a regular contributor to The Australian and Executive Director of Peter Jennings Strategy Consultants and a director of Strategic Analysis Australia, a think tank established in 2023.
