Launch of “Observations on the Pell Proceedings” by Fr Frank Brennan SJ

It would be fair, and perhaps an understatement, to say that Cardinal George Pell and Fr Frank Brennan were acquaintances, but not friends. Politically polls apart in the secular and the clerical worlds, yet both committed to what they saw as the truth.

For Brennan that means that personal feelings should never be allowed to over-ride the truth.

Many of the books written about Cardinal Pell have been written by lay (in the clerical and legal sense) close friends. That is not to say they were biased, but this account comes from someone who was not a close friend, and who understands the nuance of the law, as well as being a Catholic priest.

The launch will occur in our premises at 50 Logan Road Woollongabba at 6:00 pm for 6:30 on Friday May 19.

The Pell trial will surely be the mistrial of the century, and it was a trial not just of Pell, but of criminal justice in Victoria from police to judiciary, as well as the ability of our media, and most particularly in this case the ABC, to act in a socially responsible, and just, manner. This analysis by Fr Brennan is not to be missed
