The Sir Thomas McIlwraith Lecture is an annual lecture to celebrate contributions to Queensland’s growth that show initiative and individual enterprise. It is named after an early premier of Queensland who was responsible for a number of nation building projects such as railways and ports.
Bevan Slattery is an Australian technology entrepreneur, co-founder of Pipeworks, founder and part owner of SubPartners, founder of NextDC, founder and Executive Chairman of Megaport, founder and CEO of Superloop. Bevan has been selected given his success as an entrepreneur and innovator which represents the sort of progress the institute exists to foster by promoting philosophies and policies that unlock the potential in individual Australians.
